today we’ll look at the features and functionality of the new Logitech Options Software for keyboard and mice some of the features of the software are Windows 10, 7 8 and 8.1 support settings are user-specific and multi-user capable one software package for both 32 and 64-bit no drivers in the package it’s now just an application smaller file size.
and faster installation product image and video will be downloaded via Logitech updater over the Internet and the Windows key combination is now supported for keystroke assignment while installing.
the software your language will be detected if your language is not supported the software will default to English once the software has been installed the UI will automatically launch and display the supported products shortcuts can be created by the user from the Start menu under Logitech.
however, there is no desktop shortcut created for Windows 7 in Windows 8 the program will add a shortcut to the Windows UI let’s now look at the main screen information on the top the category tab sections are based on the product’s capability.
for the k-8 3o example there are three tabs keyboard points and scroll and gestures in the middle of the page the product image will be displayed at the bottom of the currently selected product name battery.
and connection status information will be shown now let’s look at customizing the keyboard first hover over a highlighted key the current assignment will be displayed now click on it to assign a task to click more to see a list and scroll up or down if needed click on the task you want the task will be effective immediately from here.
you can click anywhere to go back to the main screen when checking the f1 through the f12 option checkbox the F keys function will be used as a standard fun for example you can use a standard f1 key to call up help when it is unchecked press FN + f1 when unchecked the F keys function serves as an enhanced function key.
for example, we programmed f2 as a Windows key + R to display a run dialog box for customization point and scroll hover the mouse over to see the demo video then click the arrow to expand the options you can.
Click on the item to set the pointer speed drag the slider and then set the pointer speed to slower or faster you can apply the same process for the gesture tab as well next click on the more’ button to open the more settings.
page this page will display information for the devices and will allow you to configure notifications for battery status and lock keys and to disable keys for the connectivity tab you can open the unifying utility when you click on the learn more button you will be directed to the unifying information web page.
next from the software tab you can view software information and set update options now click on the X on the top right to return to the main UI now to restore default settings click on the restore defaults button which will reset all the default settings no matter which tab you are in you can find your installation files.

and Logitech options for Windows 8 and 8.1 go to the Start screen click on the arrow next to the lower-left corner of the Start screen to get to the apps view screen in order to force exit the options manager background process you will need to kill the process via task manager you will right-click on.
